Brazilian gum rosin
Tree species:
- Pinus Elliottii
Brazilian gum rosin (BGR) is a natural resin extracted from the sap of certain pine trees native to Brazil, primarily the Pinus elliottii tree. This resin is obtained through a process called tapping, where small cuts are made in the tree's bark to allow the resin to flow out. Once collected, the resin is then processed to remove impurities and excess moisture, resulting in the final product known as gum rosin.
BGR is particularly prized for its high quality and purity, making it sought after in industries where consistent performance and reliability are essential.
Gum rosin has various industrial applications, including the production of adhesives, chewing gum, coatings, depilatory waxes, mortar, inks, rubber, paints, certain types of plastics and varnishes. It is valued for its adhesive and binding properties, as well as its ability to improve the tackiness and viscosity of various materials. Additionally, gum rosin serves as a key ingredient in chewing gum.
